Bobcats News and Notes: The Sam Vincent edition
In a recent article from HoopsWorld, they discuss what the Bobcats are missing. This is their take :
The most glaring question mark in Charlotte's lineup is in the
backcourt. In an unexpected move, head coach Sam Vincent granted Jeff
McInnis the starting point guard role and moved Raymond Felton to the
two spot. This change followed the Nazr Mohammed trade, which shook up
the lineup, but McInnis had done little to warrant the promotion.
Besides, Felton had already established himself as a point guard and he
admitted that although he will play wherever Vincent puts him, he
prefers to run the floor. This has been seen in several games wherein
Felton takes over at the point, dishing off a combined 26 assists in
two games while McInnis passed off nine in those same contests. Who is
really the Bobcats point guard?
Around here at BobcatsPlanet, Sam Vincent's decision to use Jeff as the starting PG has been soundly criticized. Witness the hostility here , here , here and here. Fortunately (or Unfortunately) for Sam depending on how you view these sort of things, he received the ominous "vote of confidence" from ownership in today's Charlotte Observer
"The thing that has struck me most is that Sam is beginning to really
take a firm grip on how he manages the team, on how he coaches the
team," Johnson said Tuesday. "I think he's gotten over, or at least it
seems like he's gotten over, that first-year-coach-in-the-NBA jitters."
