If the playoffs started today (2016 Edition)

As of today, we are in the 7th seed and would be facing the Toronto Raptors in the first round.
I like that match-up, but currently we're only 1 game out of the 5 spot, and a match-up against the Hawks or Heat is much more appealing to me.

Priority #1 has to be not falling back to 8th and getting stuck being matched against the Cavs in the first round

Let's use this thread over the next 25 games to discuss our playoff positioning.

    Whoa Whoa Whoa - since ASB Hornets have the most road wins (10) and the 4th best road NetRtg.

    http://stats.nba.com...1&Location=Road

    The problem is there are no road back-to-backs in the playoffs....

    (Just kidding... sort of)

    So, with MIA over DET tonight and IND with the win (though the DET loss makes that irrelevant):

    Guaranteed:

    CLE v DET (I like this matchup, DET can play them physically)

    TOR v IND (these teams seem similar in ways so this too might be a good matchup )

    if (CHA loses to ORL) {
        we are 6th seed

    } else {

        if (ATL beats WAS) {

            if (MIA beats BOS)
                in order(3 - 6) MIA, ATL, CHA, BOS

            else

    I don't think Boston can get the 3 seed anymore.  At best, Boston ties with a member or 3 of the SouthBeast division, and Division winner supposedly prevails.  Still not sure how a 4 way tie breaker works, as the one article that tried to lay out every scenario seemed to not include Atlanta losing, Boston over Miami, and Charlotte winning.

    It seems we're destined to play the faux hawks one way or another.

    I didn't catch that detail about division winner trumping tiebreak winner. That seems like the old rule about division title keeping you in the top four creeping back in. Interesting albeit odd.

    Charlotte (47-34) will be seeded:

    ▪  No. 5 if Heat and Hornets win OR if Hornets, Celtics and Hawks win

    ▪  No. 6 if Hornets lose OR if Hornets and Celtics win and Hawks lose

    hornets play very well and blow out orlando while celtics win and hawks lose.

    The schedule isn't set.  The NBA will wait until after tonight's game to set it.  There is no predefined schedule.  It really depends on the matchups and who they think will get them ratings will determine a lot of it.

    yep.  In other words... get ready for a noon tip off on Sunday.

    Crazy how if we didn't choke in the final minute vs the Heat we'd be a 3 seed atm

    If we end up 6, we have a good chance of Han Solo-ing the first round.  My guess is most of those 19 losses by 6 seeds weren't in years when the 6 finished the season within a game of the 3.

    I believe the first round is also shown on the Hornets tv network as well.

    If we get ATL, our time slots will suck. Boston or Miami we have a better chance of decent time slots. Toronto/Indiana will not get good time slots, probably the NBA TV series right there. Lol

    Looks like we'll be in a 4-5 matchup with the Hawks. Easy to look at the Heat game or the Wizards game this week and think about what might have been. However, on the flip side, you can also look at some of those comebacks we had where we very easily could have, or even should have, lost. All in all, it's been a great season and we get to keep playing!

    Hornets post game saying we have 6 and Espn is saying we have 5th wtf!
    So here we come Miami!

    Man! Four teams 48-34.

    Every team has games they could have won, but can't help but think about some of the games we definitely should have won. Three way tie in the division ain't bad though.

    Bring on the playoffs! Thrilled about our chances.

    I don't even care what seed they gave us, we went from being 12th in the east at 17-21, with Ali Nully G berating the entire Hornets enterprise for being a disgrace to basketball, to tying for 3rd place in the East.

    Who predicted 3rd in the East this year?  I think a ton of analysts thought we wouldn't even make the playoffs.  Ready to run the old ass heat off the floor with our dark hourse bid to the NBA Final Four.

    Ok, so what hashtag do we all agree to indicate this buffoonism? I propose there should be no @hornets related tweet tweeted from now until the draft that doesn't reference the math.

    (you have to imagine me on a horse with teal and purple war paint pacing).

    Aye, tweet and you may die. Ignore Ranger Rick and you may live. But would you trade all the days from here until the draft, for one chance, just one chance, to go on twitter and tell Ranger Rick that he may take our fun, but he can't take away Our Teamdom!!!

    Will you use #TheMath brothers?
