If the playoffs started today (2016 Edition)

As of today, we are in the 7th seed and would be facing the Toronto Raptors in the first round.
I like that match-up, but currently we're only 1 game out of the 5 spot, and a match-up against the Hawks or Heat is much more appealing to me.

Priority #1 has to be not falling back to 8th and getting stuck being matched against the Cavs in the first round

Let's use this thread over the next 25 games to discuss our playoff positioning.

This IND v MIL game seems so improbable. Not thinking MIL can pull this off but they game.

Regardless of outcome, seems the patina has certainly worn off of Kidd.

3rd best Net Rating since February 1.

Also fourth in effective field goal % and fifth in TS%.

What a difference a year makes.

Overall Hornets fans have to happy about this season and future prospects, but man, what could've been. That glimpse of MKG's improved offense surrounded by shooting everywhere had to of given EC teams the shivers.

Losing that tiebreaker to Atlanta really looms large right now, but we're peaking at a good time in the #6 spot and a legit chance to get to #4 even though the Heat are on fire as well...

Who are you guys rooting for to be our first round matchup?  Celtics, Hawks, Heat or somebody else?

Hawks, Heat, Boston, in that order.

I'll go with Indiana, followed by Toronto as far as best match ups.

Toronto, Indiana, Boston, Miami, Atlanta for me honestly

    Indiana, Indiana, Indiana.

For my own sake I'd really prefer Boston and Charlotte wind up on opposite sides of the Eastern playoff bracket. Really any combination of one in the 3/6 matchup and the other in the 4/5 works for me, although ideally I'd like to see Boston remain in third.

    Indy, Celts, Raps, Hawks, Heat

We stack up well against the Raptors. They're terrible against the three pointer, and we have decent defensive counters against their two best players.

After that, I reckon I'd go Boston, Miami, Atlanta. If Bosh somehow is able to make it back at any point this season, I think they could end up being a serious threat to make it to the finals, but no one really knows what's going on with him. I know a lot of you aren't fans of Whiteside, but he'd tear us a new one inside physically.

(sidenote: it kills me to see McBob being so tragically underutilized in Miami. I so wish he would have stayed in Charlotte  :( )

Dang, I thought he's gonna play more with Bosh out.

Hawks,Heat, Pacers would be dope but eh' they'd have to climb the standings aswell as us.

I didn't mention Indiana because I dont see that happening. They would be my first choice as well.

We are now in the 5th seed a MERE 1.5 games out of 4th.

Games against teams with a record more than 1 game over .500

    Atlanta - 7
    Boston - 10
    Charlotte - 5
    Miami - 6

Charlotte plays Boston and Miami one more time.
8 games over .500 is done fucking around territory.

Going by my son reading me the remaining games while heading to the game last night, it sounded like we had 7 home, 10 away, and 5 playoff teams we go against down the stretch. If that's right, I assume e still have one of the easiest schedules remaining of those immediately above or near us in the EC playoff race.

The best part about it is watching a young team begin to figure winning out, seeing the realization of their abilities and buying in.  The same thing with the Panthers, when they went into Seattle and beat the Seahawks, then beat the Packers.  You could feel the confidence start growing.

And they are still just learning each other.  Courtney is just now getting acclimated, they're figuring out Al's new role, Kemba has hacked into the Matrix, Cody is not falling down anymore and trying to dunk on everyone's head, Nic can sit back and be the quarterback, and Marvin is starting to look like Glen Rice part 2, being able to catch the ball anywhere on the court and drain a 3 when we need it, or get into the lane for a runner.  If Lin can get back to his early season play, Lamb can figure out what Cliff wants out of him on defense, along with Frank being the underrated wildcard, they are looking like an Eastern Finals contender.

Want to play Indiana first round, Toronto second round.

If we had those opponents with MKG, I would expect us to go the Eastern Conference finals. Without him, we would still have a fighting chance.
