Charlotte Hornets Second Round Possibilities?

With 3 picks in this draft, the second round pick at #45 would be a great opportunity to go for a high risk / high reward player.
If we took a guy in the second round from outside the US to stash for a year or two, which players would be good selections with potential for us?

Nikola Jokic , Vasilije Micic , Moussa Diagne , Arlem Klimenko could all be options.

Not an international player, but I really, really like Khem Birch from UNLV. Got to see some tape, and he's very good, and DX has him projected at 56. Averaged a double-double and shot over 50% from the field, and blocked 3.8 shots per game. Doesn't have a jumper, but he'd be a very good Jeff Adrien-esque type of player. Wouldn't mind grabbing him at 45 and sending him to the D-League for a year or so.

And I mentioned it in another thread, but DX has C.J. Wilcox at 45 for us, which would be one of the biggest steals of the draft. I'm honestly not even sure if they would stash him, I'm pretty comfortable saying he's NBA-ready as it is. But if we draft a SG in the first round, sending Wilcox to the D-League for a year until Neal's contract ends would be fantastic.

My favorite second round international player is Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Snatch him up in a heartbeat if he makes it to 45 and stash him for a year.

Edit: Oh, and Nikola Jokic. Young, tall and lengthy (6'11" with at 7'3" wingspan), smart player, and a potential floor spreading PF/C.

Of the potential 2nd round international guys that may be available to us, Which one has the biggest opportunity to be a "home run"?

With the 2nd rounder, I'm much more willing take a big risk and live with the consequences if that player doesn't work out.

I like Damien Inglis, has the size, length and athleticism to play SF/PF, all the tools to be a lock down defender, can also shoot the ball pretty well

Yeah, that's what I'm looking for: high ceiling pick that maybe slips because he's not ready. Unless a really great player that is ready to contribute now falls to us, that's what I'm looking for in the pick.

Several of the Euro bigs look promising.

I'm not sure Cho is a fan of this rouet but I wouldn't be against it.

I'm going with Thanasis Antetokounmpo. I REALLY wanted to trade back last year to grab Giannis, but Thanasis has a TON of upside in the second round. He's not a big (SF), but he has home run potential.

The best Euro big that I think will be around 45 has to be Nikola Jokic. I like Artem Klimenko as well.

All I know about him is his DraftExpress profile, but what a physically intriguing athlete he is. From his size, length and athletic ability alone he would be a great 2nd round project.

If anyone knows more about him I'd love to hear it.

if you saw the DX scouting report, you basically know what you have to know about him!

Even in France, we have very few opportunity to see him playing as basketball isn't broadcasted here

Size, length, strength and point forward skills

What are the chances that the somewhat scrawny Patric Young drops down into the 2nd round.

If he was available, we could bring him along slowly by giving him a lot of run in the NBDL next season.

Young will most likely be gone by 45.

I'm not sure where James McAdoo stands in the mocks right now but I'd love to give him a try with the 45th pick if possible. I'm sure that the kid is worth more than what he showed in NC.

    either Patric Young or McAdoo

I actually do agree on McAdoo. Maybe it was just a bad system for him. Spend a year in the D-League and then see where we're at after that. He might be a better pro than college player. That's not altogether uncommon.

McAdoo at 45 would be a great addition IMO. He's a decent defensive rebounder, with great athleticism, good physical tools too. 21 yrs old... Could get the Adrien minutes...

BCP's Brother Dave recently wrote about second round sleepers in this years draft for my site, seems like a valid place to post it:
