Charlotte Hornets select Noah Vonleh at #9

Charlotte selects Noah Vonleh after he slides to #9

Noah... Welcome to Charlotte!!!

HornetsPlanet, What are your thoughts on the pick?

i like it, i like alot

It still boggles my mind that he dropped to #9.

    YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Love the pick.

Have to think McRoberts is a goner now.  I can't imagine the team will try to split minutes between three PF, especially after committing high picks to two of them.

Love this pick.  Cho didn't fall in love with the guys that were in for workouts - he let the draft fall to him.  This team is now loaded with potential on the front court.

It was a miracle that the Hornets got the 9th pick in the first place. Now they land a player nobody thought would still be available. This team is on a hot streak. But now will there be a shooter still around at 24?

So we still have NO outside shooter!

Looks like the team is hoping that P.J. Hairston is still there at 24.

I trust Cho but, I did no research on Noah. I didn't think he would be there and I didn't think we would draft a PF.

Very interesting to see what he can do.

It does make me wonder about McRoberts future.
I like the pick a lot.
I just think it means Zeller gets moved to Center. Resign McBob and let Vonleh come along at his own speed.

BPA, which is how you accumulate assets in the NBA.  Now when the music stops, who is left without a chair to sit on?  Biz, McRoberts (resigning is looking less likely), Zellar?  Answer probably stems from whichever one brings us the best value.

    Now get Shabazz!

Knew nothing about him since everyone expected he would be gone by pick 4-5.

Nonetheless it's obvious we went for BPA, from all reports he's a Cho guy.

Great character, amazing work ethic, a gym rat.

I'm really excited to see what he can do.

    Now get Shabazz!

    I'll bet you're pissed. Lol.

I liked Vonleh best of the top PF prospects.

I don't see a ton of upside with Randle, and Gordon's risk is obvious.

Nowadays, I think PF's must either be able to spread the floor or defend the rim. Vonleh's more likely than Randle to do both of those things.

I'm loving the pick. I don't think this means anything for Zeller or McRoberts in the short term. We can still start McRoberts if we sign him and bring Zeller and Vonleh along.

What I like about Vonleh is that he seems like a legit future starter, the kind of guy you check off the box without a question mark. In that regard, it was a clear win. Hairston sealed it.

What a great value pick, I wanted Randle badly but this was the next best thing. Well done Cho, I admit I was worried he would pass him over when he fell.

Scout had him ranked the #3 PF and #7 overall coming out of HS. Here's a video -

I was reading about this guy . It said he had the ability to play both Forward spots  . At his size do you guys think?  All so said he's a monster on the boards.

It's amazing he fell to us. I didn't se a lot of talk about him on here, hence everyone thought it want even possible.. It wasn't for me anyway. I am so thrilled we for him. I feel like we got a top 3 pick in most drafts at 9!

I had my phone in my hand, ready to throw it when we passed him for McDermott! Boy was I surprised. And my phone is still intact! Ha

Easily BPA based on mock projections

Could be the magical, rim protecting stretch 4 Big Al needs beside him.

    Young, lots of upside.

Really good size to play the PF, maybe C.

Hopefully less floor time for Zeller.

Might have fell past those Orlando-Sacto teams for a reason (smokescreen)

Might take longer to develop than Big Al has time for.

Seems slow, might not be able to guard stretch 4s.

Range shooting might be fluke; small sample size

Overall, pretty good pick for Charlotte.  I hope he pans out.

I still hardly believed Noah just fell to 9... maybe some considered him shy (?)

Lakers picks Randle at 7 (and his injured foot and his short arms) before him, Magic picks Aaron Gordon at 4

He was the sure thing to me at PF in the top8: size, length, strong build, youth, already GREAT rebounder as a frosh.
