I'm not as bummed out about this trade as most people here. We need to add a SG that can shoot the 3 this offseason, hopefully Booker, and with Henderson, Stephenson, Hairston, and Daniels on the roster we needed to get rid of somebody. I've wanted Hawes for awhile now, I know he didn't have a very good season this year but his minutes severely dropped and he didn't have much of a role on the team. In the previous 3 years before joining the Clippers he averaged 12 PPG and 7.7 RPG while shooting 46% from the field and 40% from 3. I think he can be a good stretch 4 for us and also play the 5. Personally I would rather keep Barnes for the year and let him backup MKG. But doesn't sound like that's the direction that we will be going, so it does give us an extra $2.5 mil to work with in free agency. I've seen a few people say that they think getting Hawes will be the end of Biz. It very well may be, but I'm hoping that it's the end of Marvin Williams instead. I think Hawes could play at the same time as Jefferson/Biz and I really wasn't all that impressed with Williams this season. Since Williams is an expiring contract I think we could be able to find somebody interested in him and maybe pickup a decent backup PG or SF and/or clear some cap space. I just don't see us giving up on Biz now, he had a pretty good year and he's shown improvements every season and is still fairly young.
