Lance Stephenson traded to the Clippers

I'm not as bummed out about this trade as most people here. We need to add a SG that can shoot the 3 this offseason, hopefully Booker, and with Henderson, Stephenson, Hairston, and Daniels on the roster we needed to get rid of somebody. I've wanted Hawes for awhile now, I know he didn't have a very good season this year but his minutes severely dropped and he didn't have much of a role on the team. In the previous 3 years before joining the Clippers he averaged 12 PPG and 7.7 RPG while shooting 46% from the field and 40% from 3. I think he can be a good stretch 4 for us and also play the 5. Personally I would rather keep Barnes for the year and let him backup MKG. But doesn't sound like that's the direction that we will be going, so it does give us an extra $2.5 mil to work with in free agency. I've seen a few people say that they think getting Hawes will be the end of Biz. It very well may be, but I'm hoping that it's the end of Marvin Williams instead. I think Hawes could play at the same time as Jefferson/Biz and I really wasn't all that impressed with Williams this season. Since Williams is an expiring contract I think we could be able to find somebody interested in him and maybe pickup a decent backup PG or SF and/or clear some cap space. I just don't see us giving up on Biz now, he had a pretty good year and he's shown improvements every season and is still fairly young.

Don't like it unless we get a draft pick. Means probably saying goodbye not just to Lance but Biz as well. And our defense.

Need to think about this more before judging, but I couldn't help myself in wanting to reply.

    Wow what a bad trade.

Chop has always been good on the trade front. I have to believe there is more coming back than that
Don't see why we don't just play it out one more year. He's working his ass off maybe he'll improve next year

If not he becomes a free agent

    Wow what a bad trade.

    Pick incoming?

Dont like that trade idea at all.
I told you guys. We want rid of Lance at all costs. I like Barnes though. Hawes is okay. He can score. We need that.

    Pick incoming?

    boy I sure hope so
When I think of Hawes I just see Zeller and Vonleh getting less minutes

Kind of gives us an idea about how badly the team/FO wants to be rid of Lance that he is being discussed in this kind of deal.

I'm actually cool with Barnes as a one year renal, but in no way do I want Hawes.

    boy I sure hope so

Was thinking a late first might be nice, but Celtics have this year's pick. ugh.

Not a cheap backup power forward

Suffice to say that Lance is now moved, regardless if this is the trade? If this has been ongoing since the trade deadline and we're just not hearing about it, seems like the likelihood we move him as just gone up significantly.

    Pick incoming?

If there was a pick incoming it would have to be a future. Clippers don't have a pick in this years draft

Let's see what happens. Lance was all but on a plane to Brooklyn last season before that fell through.

I know Hawes' contract isn't pretty, but how bad is it? And if this is seriously being considered, I underestimated how badly they want to get rid of Lance.
Hasn't our MO been that if we hear about a rumored trade, it's fallen through?

I don't believe it.  Makes absolutely 0 sense for the Hornets.

why are they trying to throw lance out the door management and fans smh... One bad year and they hate you I predict a breakout season for lance this year if we stop constantly trying to trade him whats that do to his morale. He has been putting in tons of work this offseason. what if we get curry and the first season he goes 12 ppg on 35 percent shooting 29 from 3 a little dramtic but still if he has a bad year will yall throw him out the door try to trade him every chance he gets. How does this look as a franchise to free agents if you have one bad year your gone. Sorry you have to kill it every season. I bet 30 percent of the reason for lances bad year is the management trying to trade him every chance he gets. Why not give the dude a second chance.

Not definitely about to happen, no deal imminent according to Woj.

I wrote some instant reaction and analysis here:

I'd rather just waive Lance than make this deal.

I don't believe it.  Makes absolutely 0 sense for the Hornets.

which is exactly why they would do it

can't believe we would move on from lance after one season for THIS.  fucking JOKE

I am saying that I don't buy it. Say what you want about cho, but he does make good trades. This isn't one. Hawes is simply not worth his contract.
Broussard saying that Hornets are good with it but the Clippers are still deliberating. Why are we always the team on board when we have the worst end of the trade? Happened in the JJ trade with the Nets at the deadline too.

At this point I don't believe anything Chris "sources say" Broussard says. Esp when it concerns the hornets
