Charlotte Bobcats fall to the New York Knicks in first game of back to back

The Charlotte Bobcats came up short last night in the first game of their back to back against the Knicks. In the battle of past and current Bobcats point guards, DJ Augustin more than held his own against Raymond Felton. DJ lit up the Knicks to the tune of 24 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Felton countered with 16 points and 9 assists and had his hands full keeping up with DJ all game.

The Bobcats fell into that familiar pattern that we've all grown accustomed to. Start off sluggish, fall behind by double digits in the first half, raise the defensive intensity in the 3rd, then turn it over to Stephen Jackson to hit huge shots in the 4th quarter. While I must admit that watching Captain Jack repeatedly nail illogical three pointers in the 4th quarter is entertaining, I'm pretty sure that it is not exactly how you want to structure your late game offense each and every game. Fun yes, Successful no.

Highlights

A few observations:

  • Landry Fields? What, Who??? It seems like every game there is some player that no one has ever heard of that steps up and pounds our starters. Today Fields ( 14 points, 7 boards, 2 steals ) was that guy following in the path of other unknowns that feasted on the Cats.  For his hard work, we give him the renowned Sonny Weems / Gary Neal award.

  • Tim Mozgov is still in the NBA? After thishappened, I thought that he immediately filed his retirement papers.

  • [caption id="" align="alignright" width="173" caption="Excessive Bearding"][/caption]

Rony Turiaf is in clear violation of all past, present and future bearding ordinances. He has over-bearded and if I have to take matters into my own hands then I will file a grievance with both Commissioner Stern and the CEO of Gillette in order to get this situation rectified as soon as possible.

  • At the end of the game we needed a three to tie, Why not put Matt Carroll in the game? If nothing else he would have been another threat from three point range out there in addition to Jackson, Diaw and DJ. Somebody enlighten me on that one.

Next up, the Knicks again. Will it look any different tonight?
