Game Thread: Charlotte Bobcats at Brooklyn Nets 3/19

Paul Pierce is old.
KG is ancient.
Deron Williams' ankles are rickety.

But they are stil 2&1/2 games ahead of us and catching them is the difference between facing the Toronto Raptors in the first round or facing the 2 time defending champion Miami Heat.

Will the Bobcats bounce back from Monday night's loss to get this crucial win against the Nets?

this is a must win. although at this point, i think the 8 seed is more desirable for this team than the 7. 6th is best but if the cats can't get there, i would rather play indy than miami. better matchup.

This late in the season, every game is huge, but I'd say catching Washington is more doable than catching Brooklyn.

If Johnson and Pierce don't combine for 18 threes, and Williams doesn't score 80 points; we got a solid chance of winning this game.

    Chef,

You like our chances against the Pacers more than the Heat?

I agree. I think we match up better with Indiana so I either want the 6th seed or the 8th seed. the 7th seed is bad for us.

And don't look now but, the Hawks have won 5 in a row and are only 1 game back of us. New York has won 6 in a row and face Indy tonight.

It's going to be a big game tonight and hopefully we come out fired up after the terrible performance against the Hawks and the Nets destroyed us the last time we played them.

Anyone know Garnett's status for this game? Kidd has him sitting out a ton of time in the lead-up to the playoffs, and he's probably their most effective option for defending Jefferson.

yes, but for the record we are talking about winning maybe 1 (2 at the absolute most) and being competitive vs. getting blown out every game. the pace is better and strengths match up better.

    I do.

Not saying anything bad about Indiana because they are loaded with studs but I would like our chances to get our 1st playoff win against them more so than Miami.

With that being said, we need to pass either Brooklyn or Washington for 6th...or both for 5th!

    KG is out - http://www.netsdaily...ate-back-spasms

AK is probably out as well - http://www.netsdaily...ed-left-big-toe

It's gonna be a riot watching Plumlee/Blatche defend Al.

Not to discredit the Pacers (well, actually I am), but they don't have a player who can carry the team by himself. George was huge against the Heat in the play-offs last year, but he doesn't play as well this season. He was especially bad against us (the Bobcats); averaging 9.0ppg over the 3 games they played against us. that's why I rather have the Bobcats play the Pacers than the Heat, but if we win tonight, and then a couple more times, we could easily take the no. 6 spot and play our first round against the Raptors. Let's make that happen!

The thing that would concern me about a matchup with the Heat is the refs. There is no way that they are going to call it right down the middle with the star power that the Heat have.

That's always the issue when you're the lower seed.

Should be a  good game .  Jefferson should have his way .  Think they have a advantage at the two . Kemba , Williams should be interesting.  We should have a slight advantage at the four  Advantage goes to them at the three . If MKG..can slow .P.P down  we have a good chance even on the road. .

I don't want to face the Heat simply because I don't 12,000 brand new Heat (Lebron) "fans" ruining my playoff game experience...

Seems strange to say, but I have a feeling this game comes down to how well we contain Blatche.

It's probably the proverbiable "if" game...if we want the 6th seed we have to win this game.

Just doing a quick scan of the interwebs before I leave work and I find that apparently the biggest contentious issue of the evening is folks wanting retribution for Kemba's intentional ankle roll of D-Will. I hope we kick their collective asses and Al dunks Plumlee (not on him, just literally puts him through the basket).

I love how people don't understand statistics :D

Nice minutes defensively for Cody early in the game.

    CDR is feeling it!

    CDR is feeling it!

Some of his misses are the ugliest shots imaginable, but it's all good when it goes through.

I just tuned in, see Big Al at 4 of 10. Has he been struggling or are they defending him really well?

I think he just had one of those halves where the shots weren't falling.

Were not playing terribly, just seem to be shooting a poor percentage for stretches.
What the heck is going on with the Roast? I hope it turns around soon but he's been horrific of late.
