Ok, super excited, super nervous about this game tonight.  Why oh why does Spencer being out unsettle me so much? On one side, I am concerned that it takes any bullets out of the clip and we need all options.  On the other side, what I have been saying since prior to Game 1 is that we have to throw curve-balls at Spo.  As good as I think Spo is with time to devise a game plan, I think time has shown he doesn't counter in real time nearly as well. So altering the roster again with someone new coming in seems like it could reap significant immediate benefits, I am troubled that we lost a guy over 6'10" to do that with.  Can we see the return of Lamb tonight instead of just running with an 8-man line up?  I don't know that coach trusts him but his length and 3p shot could be a very nice benefit; including the sand shift that it makes.  I would only use him briefly, but I like the possibility that 10 mins of determined Lamb could bring.  Hate that we lose Hawes though, he was playing very well in his limited minutes.

Add to that, we have this new little stinger ...

    Preach Clifford....

“But when you do a lineup, the other part of it is, you have to look at the full 48 minutes, and then how you can sub to try to have the best balance of offense and defense. So we’re going to stay with it for now. The bottom line is, since we’ve gone with that lineup our bench play has been terrific, and that’s why we’ve won.”

I have been upfront about my fandom.  I am still a young fawn compared to you lifers... But I have never been more geeked for a NBA game in my entire life.  I can't imagine what some of you guys are feeling.

It feels like the Heat are in a fragile place.  If we jump on them early, I think they'll crack and we can run away from them.

What kind of quote is this from your leader to inspire confidence in an elimination game?:

“It’s very challenging when you have to go on the road with a team that hasn’t won too much on the road, and try to find a way to get a win,”

“It gets no tougher than that in the playoffs, where a team can close you out on their floor. I don’t know where this team is. I wish I could tell you.”

No, William Wallace doesn't have to worry about his inspirational speech getting knocked down a peg.  Thats a severe lack of confidence, combined with blaming the refs for your failure.  If Wade starts to get discouraged, the team will follow.

I'd love for the Hornets to play this everytime Whiteside gets a foul, or gets angry.  Or maybe just touches the ball

    cranberries-singer-arrested-airplane.gif

Yeah, he might go on a murderous rampage.  But he definitely will be ineffective (sorry if the flashing image caused an earworm of the most annoying song of the 90s)

Then in the 4th, we should get Hugo to ride out on a motorcycle and play some Purple Rain

And get IHOP to sponsor the pancakes for the Heat's after game meal.  Game, Blouses.

So, with regard to the MKG practicing video, after shoulder surgery how many weeks does it take to go from practicing dribbling to playing in a game? I know he's not going to be helping us win games any time soon. Just curious.

+1, i loled at this entire post.

    That would be great!
Gotta win tonight. I feel like this series is either hornets in 6 or heat in 7

Believe it was three weeks last time.  But that was last time, first surgery.

1 PM Start on Sunday IF it goes to 7 games.  That's double the reasons to get it done tonight and come out on fire.

I agree Chef. We shouldn't make it tougher than necessary. I'm not sure if we can steal a second win in Miami.
And even if we could do so, I'd imagine it would be a much greater experience for you guys to celebrate it live at TWC.

I want to win this game if for no other reason than to see Rick Bonnell eat his own words.

That's not the only reason obviously, but yeah.

The Heat will come out aggressive tonight & Wade will have a chip on his shoulder for sure. The Hornets need to set the tone with their defense & let that hopefully lead to some easy scores.

Oh, I just saw that. He needs clearance for non-contact team drills but it's unclear if that's already happened - last time it was 3 months after surgery. 12 days later he was cleared for full-contact practice, 10 days after that a game. If I recall correctly he was available several days earlier.

He waited a week for surgery the 2nd time (February 17). The timeline wouldn't necessarily be the same, nor do I know if a 2nd incident would be treated any differently. For all we know MKG has been told a return is 100% off the table, but that seems unlikely given the video shows him working with the coaching staff and no doubt released intentionally.

    Pour one

That was one of the best flops I've ever seen. My god. That flop needs to be immortalized in flop history.

This game is not only big for the season, but will also be big for a big number of transplanted city/fans.   If we win and uptown explodes into a purple and teal after party, the effect on some of the young bandwagon fans will be significant as they will realize..."wow the hornets are fun, I think I'm going to start being a fan".

Charlotte has had some of the best homegrown fans over the years - 364 straight home sellouts and leading the league in attendance for 8 years proves as much.  But the opportunity to grab some crossovers tonight is big.  I hope we win and some of the people talking about their "home teams in _____" change their mindset to embrace the one in their backyard.

The Panthers have enjoyed a similar phenomenon over the last few years.

And while watching the ship grow is difficult as a diehard because you kind of feel like you were there all along while the new blood is fickle and fairweather - you've got to move past that and embrace any new fan.   I've been a Hornets/Bobcats and Panthers fan as long or longer as anyone here but that crap doesn't matter past my ego.    Same is true for any of you other long time fans.

For the transplanted fans - the Celtics, 76ers, Cavs, Knicks, Nets fans can all suck on my big old hairy balls.  You live in Charlotte now.  Root for your home team!    Disregard the insult if it offends and get on board!

Big pat not announcing tonight due to illness???

Oh Shit, you have to be kidding me.... please not the shitty replacement guy, please not the shitty replacement guy

So basically, wanted to be super ready for Toronto. Finish him!

Big Pat's stand in looks dialed in. Hive is looking tight. Let's get after it gentlemen.
