Game Thread: New York Knicks at Charlotte Hornets 12/5

Tonight we have the 4-15 Hornets taking on the 4-16 Knicks.

The Knicks are riding a 6 game losing streak and are coming off a tough 3 point loss to the Cavs. Of course we are the not so proud owners of a 10 game losing streak... we haven't sniffed the win column in weeks.

Question of the night: Will this be the night that we get back in the win column?

    Lets see:

Knicks coming off a late loss the night before, with us resting the whole day = Advantage Knicks
Carmelo shot only 4-19 last night, guaranteeing a 50 point game tonight = Advantage Knicks
Knicks have more than one 3 point shooter on the team = Advantage Knicks
Knicks have lost 6 games in a row, which the Hornets always cure = Advantage Knicks
Hornets will play at home in front of a big crowd still ready to embrace them = Advantage Knicks
Derek Fisher never loses to Charlotte = Advantage Knicks

I think we pull this one out on a last second tip in by Maxiell.

Hornets win 103-99. Jahidi White goes off in the 4th with Jason Hart dishing out mad dimes.

Them-Melo Us-No MKG= The Knicks losing streak ending

    Game preview  good read

I am going into this positive . This is the last game of 20 games of hell . We have no where to go but up from hear . The Knicks are coming off a back to back . Pride sets in tonight  playing at home against a team with a record just as bad as ours .   I really think this is the turning point  . The game tonight is BIG  and could define the rest of our season . And I think the guys put it all on the line ... Hornets win

I'm ready to call this season a waste if they don't win this one. I'm looking for Jefferson and Kemba to step up.

Not gunna lie this was pretty hilarious. . But in all seriousness... if we lose tonight im all in on full tank mode

I only saw one play, but it was the one that mattered.

Please let this be the start of some kind of winning streak.  Even if it's just two games.  Please.

    Please.

    Please.

Well... That took a damned miracle.

Well, I was almost 100% right.  Just picked the wrong midget for the buzzer beater.

Well we won, but it definitely didn't feel good. Team gets a nice break now, hopefully come back strong against Boston.

That was an ugly and terrifying win.  But... it was a win.

I hope this is playing on a loop over the Hive PA system all weekend.

not even happy with the win.  tonight showed again that there are serious problems on this team.

I didnt watch the game but judging from the box score there was another big blow lead... which could have easily sent this to 11 straight. So whats the issue in the 4th quarter that makes almost any team able to come back on us?
the win was big considering the large home crowd. Always want the paying customers to go home happy.

But jeez another 4th quarter melt down. Sitting at home the final shot got no more than a welp from me. At least the losing streak is over.

A much needed win for quite a few reasons. But this team has a lot of work to do. I think MKG & Taylor will give the team better guys to use on the defensive end. But I think this team lacks a "tough guy" in the front court.

I'll take a win. Sometimes you just need to see yourself cross the finish line, regardless of how and we did that. I am happy

Thank god we came out with that W, now rest up and go hard at Boston!

On the plus side: My Jahidi White prediction score was pretty close and Bismack played well against starters.

Over dependence on Al's inefficient mid-range hook shots and jumpers.  The bench unit was nickel and diming the lead away so Clifford put the starters back in, conventional logic and all, but the starting unit is Al surrounded by bad shooters so it led to a lot of Al throwing contested junk at the rim, the Knicks getting a stop, the Knicks scoring b/c the starters can't play defense if the other team can hit open shots, repeat until lead is blown.

Guys just be happy we finally won. Hopefully it takes some bad juju off of us

I just watched it last night .... its pretty much as you say. Good flowing offense the first 3 quarters then it just seemed like the ball stopped moving in the 4th. Al struggled. The 4th is this team weakness. Hope coach finds whats the problem before Wednesday. 2 very winnable games coming up. But they wont be easy.

O im happy we won but even kemba wasnt exactly pleased with how they won. Having another big lead dissapear in the 4th quarter is frustrating. Mainly becuase It shows how good this team can be with how big the leads get. But how they lose the lead shows why they have the record they do. I hope we start a win streak and get some rhythm going. GO HORNETS
Any time any team gets one dimensional they are asking for trouble ... and we seem to be guilty of that when it comes to crunch time.
To me we look our best when we're moving the ball well and giving multiple players multiple looks ... ie when we play as a team.
However the mentality of most of our players is not to shoot, but to defer ... especially as the likes of Kemba & Lance aren't shooting well thus far this season. If you have an open midrange shot, and you're not called Biz, take it!
The fourth quarter 'clear half the court, lob the ball to Al in the midpost' move is too easy to defend. Al needs a shooter (PJ, Neal) on his side of the court at all times, with a slasher from the elbow ready if Al can't get the ball to said shooter and is doubled. Too many times our players switch off when Al has the ball, especially in the fourth quarter.
I could be wrong, but I see Al as a team player who will readily pass out of a double team IF there's a better option available ... too often there isn't one.
