2014 NBA Finals - Spurs versus Heat - The Rematch

The Spurs have been thinking about last year's game 6 that they let slip away for the past 12 months.
As good as Miami is, I see the San Antonio Spurs using those memories as motivation to win this series... Possibly in as few as 5 games.

What are your thoughts on the Finals?

As a Bobnet Deacon fan, go Tim and go Spurs! And if it's obvious they can't beat the Heat, I am so blinded by my loathing of everything Heat, I am just not seeing it. Objectively, I do think this Spurs team has more cylinders firing than last year's. Manu doesn't seem as self destructive, Boris is playing much more assertive and I don't think they'll end up putting to much stock in Danny Green's three point shooting. They do need a healthy Parker but with time of until Thursday,I think that should be doable.

I fancy the Heat winning this in six, though a true nail bitter that goes the full seven games would be great entertainment.

The Spurs have played well in the play offs after their scare against the Mavericks. The OKC series showed how good a team they can be by beating them game one, and blowing them away in game two, and then in game five after suffering two straight defeats by 9 and 13 points respectively. But what these two series showed is that if you can take your chances, and play tough defense, you can beat the Spurs. I know that is an obvious comment, but the Heat have generally played well offensively and defensively in each series so far, and I think against the Spurs I think they will do the same. They'll play some decent defense, and they have the fire power on their starting line up and bench to get the job done.

For me, the Heat will win their third title on the bounce. Though it would be 'nice' to see the Spurs win one and Duncan rides off into the sunset with one last championship.

I think the Spurs get their revenge.   I honestly think they steal one in Miami and this is over in 5.   But at worse, this goes 7 and the Spurs finish it off at home.

    Timmy is ready

Heat in 6 only because of the new (old) 2-2-1-1-1 format but I really want to pick the Spurs here I really do.

I can't root for the Spurs, just can't do it.  If Boris wasn't on the team, I probably would, but after the way he handled himself to get out of Charlotte he's the last person in these finals that I want to win a ring.  Sorry Timmy.

Plus, it's a bit of a consolation to know that the team that bounced you from the playoffs won the title.  Go Heat.

I think it'll be at least 6 games again.

Diaw went off the other night, it made me sick..

Seeing Boris Diaw succeed after he basically mailed in his last year in Charlotte is the one thing that makes watching the Spurs unenjoyable for me.

    Can't stand him.

With the AC out who does it favor? The Heat are younger but the Spurs live in Texas most of the year. Strange regardless.

Hindsight is 20/20 of course but there is some logic that it has the biggest effect on the guy that carries the biggest load of both teams.

Well the retard Spurs won from "turning off" the ac. Splitter needs to be fined for flopping. Barely any foul shots for the Heat in second half . etc etc.

How any fan of the Heat can play the victim card of flopping is beyond me. Between Wade, Battier and King James, you are one player away from the Royal Quartet at the Shakespeare Theatre Company.

True.  James may be the best player on the planet, but the Spurs are an overall better team.  Not by a huge margin, but enough that they should win this series.  I call Spurs in 6.

Wade doesn't flop, he does his once a game or so pump fake foul. Battier does tho i will admit and never liked that bastard . James only does that when he thinks he should of gotten the foul.

i wish there were a "does not like" button

Cool - good to know that about Wade. I had him wrong all this time...

flopping is considered any attempt to "fool" the refs by exaggerating contact or the effect of contact. kicking out your leg and falling on a jump shot, throwing your head back on a drive upon contact and dramatically veering off direction when touched by a player much smaller than you are examples and wade and bron are both very guilty of doing this. about as guilty as parker and manu but nowhere near as bad as harden and battier.

I missed last year's match up but I see this year's Finals are going to be intense the whole series. Both teams seem bloodthirsty so, I'm not sure who I think will win the title. I'm  a HEAT fan buuuuuut I also see it for the SPURS. I'll wait to give my prediction after Game 2 on Sunday.

Should i get video of Manu and Parker flopping? A ton more than the Heat.

If for some reason that makes you feel better, sure. But if you think it makes it right, don't bother.

The Heat's season hangs on the result of Game (and LeBron's health), if he makes it through Game 2 I think the Heat will even the series.
