Miles Plumlee - Spencer Hawes / Roy Hibbert Trade Discussion

I can see it, I guess - Plumlee will do a better job of doing Cody Zeller things than any of the other candidates to play center that are/were on the roster, so you don't have to switch up your play style to accomodate a backup big - you can just kind of rotate the two in the same offense. It's a healthy contract he's on, but I didn't expect Charlotte to have significant cap space this summer anyway and with limited trade assets to work with taking on a long-term deal is likely the cost of doing business. Given the much larger cap exceptions that will be in play under the new CBA there's something to be said for working over the cap instead of killing yourself to free up one big salary slot that may not be taken by anyone.

I will miss Hawes.  I will not miss his man-bun.

Doesn't this feel like it is setting up for a bigger deal in the future?

Nope. Getting rid of 2 centers for 1 to improve quality of ur bench big men (i guess)

But with the plumlee additiom this bring next season total to right at the cap right? Something like 102 million? I dont think theres a bigger deal but im kinda hoping there is.

This to me reeks of a bigger move.

Plumlee has averaged 9 minutes a game in Mil this season, averaging 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds per game.   We are taking on at least 3.5 million in cap space for that?   Can't be.

    ...why?

He's signed for 12.4 million for 4 years....I mean he had to do something substantive to get paid that money right?

His best year was in 2013-2014 with Phoenix where he averaged 8 points and 8 rebounds a game. He was resigned in August to this current contract he's on now by Milwaukee.

lol please be apart of a bigger deal if not wtf

Really? This is the first I've heard. Can't see absorbing $50M for a 2nd/3rd string C without pick considerations. Even then I'd expect MIL or a 3rd team taking Lamb off CHA's hands.

    Maybe FO believes in Plumlee

His career season high is 8/8.   which is less than we get out of Hawes Hibbert combo for 3 million less.

No way this is the end of the deal.   No freaking way.

Coincidentally I hopped on here to say Hawes should probably stop getting hit with T's every 3rd game. Not exactly the best look for someone sporting a -15 on/off.

This is a Bobcats type trade

Oh how I hope you're right!
If you can come up with a trade that has a lower talent for height ratio I would love to see it. This trade is 21 ft 3 in of garbage. And the hornets take on salary. I think this is a direct result of the constant barrage of layups and dunks in a wide open lane. Thanks Willie cauley stein, this is all your fault.

Sure, and I believe in Cho but it's a stretch considering backup defensive C's can be had for 1/2 the price. Of course that assumes no other moves or salary dump.

    NO!
    YES!

I certainly hope im wrong. But this might be one of those trades where we the fans are hoping for something bigger.... but in reality the FO are happy with what they got

We've been targeting this guy for what reason? Lol

Hmmmm...my initial reaction was getting another mobile PnR C to maximize Nic's skill set and drag help away from Kemba. I'd consider Cody a spacer that way.

Kemba's numbers really suffer without Cody or Frank on the floor. I think this is the primary objective here.
