The second round picks are probably of equal value both ways. We rarely use them, even the picks let alone the talent acquired from them. The Knicks will likely find use in trade out personnel. I think we win hands down on Willy for JOB. If we move one of our centers for this, we should move decently away from the red line on the tax. Now if we keep Dwight and Cody we have a real issue on our hands with PT allocations.
Here comes McRoberts, the throw to Walker, it's in the aaaaaiiiiirrrr, YESSSSS! Bobcats win it! My my my, Kemba Walker. Steve Martin - Toronto 12/18/2013

Hernangomez is useful, I watched a decent amount of him on the Knicks last year. Definitely suggests one of Dwight/Zeller may be on the move, because you just traded for locker room problems otherwise.

What's his play style like?

I expect future moves.  Clifford probably wants at least two more centers in the rotation so we'll have to go get them.

Hornets hipster:  Hated Al Jefferson before it was cool.

Dwight is gone... there's no question for me.  And if that's the case, this is a great trade.  If they move Cody and keep Dwight with Willy, I'm not sure I can support the direction anymore.

I'm wondering if this applies more for next year than this year. Zeller is still recovering. Do you risk moving Howard right now with those conditions, unless you get another C in return?

Zeller would just be so much easier to move because of the contract situations. I'm not sure how you move Dwight without attaching a pick or taking back a bad contract in the realm of Jo Noah/Mozgov.

I hope you're right, if only to see Dwight dropped into a dysfunctional locker room that already contains Angry Lebron and Wade.

Plus, the possibility of reassembling this:

That’s my thinking. Zeller and Kemba are the only guys with any real value on this team.

No one is taking Dwight with the combination of his contract and his attitude issues. He doesn’t fit a winning culture nor does he fit a rebuilding culture when you’re trying to teach young players how to do things the right way.

Well, I don’t think it means they’re going to keep Dwight long term. They probably just can’t find anyone to take him right now.

Panic move by Knicks.

We would have done this regardless of another move but.....

We’re not done. Again, the deal may fall through and not happen (ala G man 2 years ago) but there is something bigger in the works.

Weird trade for the Knicks.

I am struggling to understand why the Knicks did this today vs. testing out how much PT would enhance his trade value.  Unless'n they know something ...

Probably. Could also be seen as trimming fat. If he's complaining, take the savings, and get a couple of minor chips in the process.
