Hey we broke 36 wins, that’s a playoff series in itself

Didnt like the optics for us retaining Kemba there at the end of the game... They allowed him to check out with about a minute left, crowd cheered him/standing ovation, but Kemba hung his head down, shoulders slumped and walked to the bench. He sat down, head still down and then put his warmup hoodie on. When the buzzer sounded Kemba walked to dap the other players up, initially left his hood on and appeared to wipe his eyes and looked like he was trying not to get emotional.

Some of that could have been the disappointment of not making the playoffs again, but idk... we've sucked before and I dont remember him appearing that way in response.

The way JB and him had a long embrace seemed weird too

Yeah, everything Kemba did tonight seemed like a farewell. We've seen him lose and finish horrible seasons except for the last playoff run, and I've never seen him approach interactions with others like he did tonight.

FWIW, JB just said in his presser that he loves Kemba, Kemba inspired him, and plans on coaching him for years to come and that's how he will approach it.

My son was asking in the way home if I thought we were going to lose Kemba. My thoughts are what I told him. We've all seen in this last flurry that we're can win with 74m parked on the bench so there's no reason to kid ourselves that we're need that particular talent. Kemba sure won't. So if we move through the draft and into free agency without moving one or more of Marvin, Cody, Mike, or Nic, then he's likely to leave. If we do see ourselves make such moves, I like our chances of making something happen.
Here comes McRoberts, the throw to Walker, it's in the aaaaaiiiiirrrr, YESSSSS! Bobcats win it! My my my, Kemba Walker. Steve Martin - Toronto 12/18/2013

I will day tho it wasn’t a normal we aren’t making the playoffs last game. We all had various degrees of belief that the Knicks would pull it off. So it hit harder.

But also I mean I kinda realized it was over about 8 minutes in and I’m guessing the team did too because that’s when we went from high effort and heart to nothing

Yeah, good points. And tbh, I have seen Kemba look discouraged before, but just not like that at the end of a season combined with the elongated greetings and embraces... and in the instances I have seen Kemba act similarly were when I suspected there were issues he had in the locker room - I called it when he had issues with Lance and then again with Dwight. He just looked drained.

I'm not sure who exactly it could be now, but I suspect it could be Nic. He's the captain of this ship, and I'm sure he's tired of guys being paid big money mailing it in. Not making the playoffs and knowing effort cost us games against teams like the Bulls or Cavs that had we not lost 1 of those games, we'd be in the playoffs now, I'm pretty sure that is a lot more biting now that the season is over.

Clearly there is no reason to try make one of those last spots in the playoffs

Extra oomph seeing Augustin take over that game late and will Clifford and the Magic to a victory.

Pfft, that didn't happen, they are only fodder for the chosen top seeds. /s

I always liked Clifford. Glad he’s making it work in Orlando. Much respect to them.

Clearly obvious that there is absolutely no reason to try just slip in as one of those bottom seeds.

It’s a shame the Pistons made the playoffs. With Griffin out they can’t compete with any playoff team, much less the Bucks. It would have been a more competitive series if we were there. Same result I’m sure, but better games.

Nice. Detroit is that idiot at the poker table that wants to keep raising when you have the short stack all-in and everyone else at the table seems to understand the actual objective.
