I still don't see Monk's defense being atrociously bad. Not an unplayable level when you look in reference to how to league values defense. Only problem I have with his defense is that he gambles too much which leads to him losing his man off ball. Thats more simple of a fix then just pure effort. Batum's ineffectiveness is cringeworthy at times. Maybe he'd would be better off as the 6th man where he could go back to having the ball in his hands more and be the playmaker he's supposed to be.

We might have different definitions for the word "atrocious". He takes the old Harden "float around harmlessly" approach at times.

Not saying he's not guilty of this. But to me from what I remember seeing, its more so him overly helping on the drive or ball watching for a chance to swipe at a steal. There are times this pays off and he makes a defensive play out of it. There are more times where he's caught out of position for an open 3, or gets back cut. Again, to me, this is a much easier fix than a lack of effort. It doesn't make his defense "atrocious" though. He's not getting fried on ball every play. THAT would be atrocious.

I love Monk and think it's too early and the minutes too inconsistent to make sweeping judgments based on the advanced stats... but the advance stats don't seem to show that.

Batum  OBPM: -.01  DBPM: .09

Monk    OBPM: -.04  DBPM: -3.4

I think patience with Monk is still necessary.   And that's coming from a guy who usually wants rookies getting massive minutes.  Monk is getting better, lets let him.

I'd agree.  He's playing much better this year and showing improvement, -4.4 per 100 possessions last compared to -15.4.  Try not to get into the overvaluing rookie expectations trap and not group rookies into rare special performers not at very top picks, but liked talent and expected at least if not better than Miles -5.2 and Kaminsky-5.9, than in range of this years other rookies Graham -13.1, Chealey -19.3, Macura -20.4.

Other recent rookies:  Bacon +2.1, Harrison -7.1, Hairston -7.2, Vonleh -10.1, Graham -13.3.

So the hornets (by this article) had trade offers for Kaminsky at the deadline and turned them down and a potential buyout for fear of..... depth at the 5???

Not a good look.

Just saw that too. Maybe the big story there is potential issue with Biz' knee affecting his PT and the team holding Frank while Willy should be a healthy body.
Here comes McRoberts, the throw to Walker, it's in the aaaaaiiiiirrrr, YESSSSS! Bobcats win it! My my my, Kemba Walker. Steve Martin - Toronto 12/18/2013

Same thoughts, we decided to not take on any draft picks then trying to buy him out with concerns of already nonexisting depth at 5. Not sure what to say about this, feel free to move on Kemba (?)

Assuming the parts about turning down "players and picks" is true, this team is so incredibly frustrating.

Holding out hope that Mike sells.

They could've gotten a center off the buyout list.  Gortat is still available, or even Kanter before he went to Portland.  Me I would've done Frank for Marquess Chriss from Houston.

Right, so the concern I have is, do we fear we don't have two healthy centers?

I can't think of a more frustrating team to be a fan of in all of American professional sports.

It wouldn't be that bad if it was how I thought and we just weren't getting any offers for him. But if that article is correct, and we declined available offers for him.....

Coach doesn't want to play mans, Mans doesn't want to play here, Front office doesn't want to trade mans in case mans does good somewhere else. Like wut.

I've been wondering this myself lately. Lol but in all seriousness I hope and pray the media person that wrote this just is a Kaminsky fan and is trying to make him look good. Because it just doesnt make sense. The hornets have kept 4 centers on the roster all year.. Kaminsky (save for a couple games) has been glued to the end of the bench so naturally he ask for a trade/buyout, And you refuse and possible turn down assets because your worried about depth and the possibility of him actually finding his groove with another team in the nba after 4 years failing to do so with the hornets??

That would be BEYOND a bad look and just doesnt make much sense for a team in dire need of extra assets.

Hilarious how many picks have been "offered" for Frank Kaminsky. I don't believe the first word of that obvious favor job of an article. Just like the godfather deal that never existed.

He's not good, and he's never wanted to be here. Frank wants to go play in his hometown like some kind of college dropout. Relive his glory days when he was a relevant basketball player.

I don't buy it. American Primoz Brezec.
