Tomorrow, we defy the odds and the basketball Gods shine their light on the Charlotte Hornets as the Ping Pong balls align for that 1/100 scenario that delivers us Zion...

I'm trying to speak it into existence but, if It doesn't pan out, lets hope that the neither the Fucking Knicks or the Hawks get the #1 pick. If Zion can't play here, put his ass out West.

Imagine we defy the odds get Larry Johnson on steroids with the first pick then resign Kemba.

Zion and Miles dunk on everyone in sight the next 8 years whilst Kemba has more breathing room to score and work on his increasing passing ability

Time to start thinking up theories on why the NBA would rig the draft for us.

The always good they owe us from 2012.

They want to discourage tanking and the Hornets never tank.

They want the Hornets to keep Kemba in a small market.

They want to see Zion stay in the Carolinas to tap into that NC college basketball fan base.

So what happens if we land the #2 pick? Do we select Ja? I honestly think he had a higher ceiling that Kemba. Could we play both guys at the same time? Would we even resign Kemba? Or do we select RJ Barret?

The league wants Kemba in New York so bad though. I do buy the Zion is a local guy though... same as Ja.

If we get pick # 2 ... you go ahead and mail in the card the same day with Ja Morant on it.    And you sign Kemba.  They'd work great together I think.

I am trying to be positive with this but tankathon.com is not showing me the love.  Ran it at least 30 times.  Dropped (to 13) six times, jumped (to 2) twice, had Miami and LA hit the Zion but our two bumps were Ja-land (not bad land but just sayin').

Pfft, bad vibes be damned!  For Ziggy's sake, "we got this."

Here comes McRoberts, the throw to Walker, it's in the aaaaaiiiiirrrr, YESSSSS! Bobcats win it! My my my, Kemba Walker. Steve Martin - Toronto 12/18/2013

So assuming that we get the overall number one pick tonight (you know, duh). To me, the obvious holla back move would be to do whatever we need to do to acquire the number two pick in order to draft Ja as well.

Kemba

Ja

Batum

Miles

Zion

Does that make sense? No. Do I care? No. Should I be working right now instead of posting here? Yes.

Am I a fool for thinking that if Charlotte wins the lottery, trading Zion in a package for ad and jrue is what I would do.

I mean no.  I wouldn't do it, but it's not crazy.   As long as #1 is the only asset we lost.   It would require Batum/Marvin/Biyombo in salary.

Would reset the team as so:

Kemba / Graham / Parker

Jrue / Bacon / Monk

Bridges / MKG

Davis / Kaminsky

Zeller / Hernangomez

That would give you a 2 year window with a Kemba / Jrue / AD core.   I think it would give us the most immediate chance at being a contender.

BUT...

I still think you take Zion.   I think that grows your window a ton because of the rookie contracts.   (Throw in a Lamb signing somehow, cause I like him and think his continuity and growth are beneficial and cheaper than other vets)

Kemba / Graham / Parker

Lamb / Bacon / Monk

Zion / Batum / MKG

Bridges / Kaminsky

Zeller / Biyombo / Hernangomez

As Batum / Biyombo / Marvin / MKG shed off  you have a young locked in core of   Kemba / Lamb / Graham / Bacon / Monk / Zion / Bridges  and some money to burn.

Plus how can you pass up a future with Zion and Bridges trying to break goals in every arena for at least the next 5 years.

It would definitely cost more than Zion. I see it as a combo of 2 trades

Trade 1: Zion + late 2nd for davis

Trade 2: monk + early 2nd for jrue

I would try to keep Marv (if possible) and mkg but trade Cody.

Then I would resign kemba and lamb. Keep Frank for sure.
