I mean, if we go by what they said at the end of the season, rim protection is important. Who else besides Bol gives us that in that range?

I’m only just now learning about him really. Just happened to see he won the Euroleague Rising Star award and started looking into him. I think he’ll be one of those international late draft risers. Comes from the same club as Jokic and Ivan Zubac i think.

I think we have to keep the pick. We need young cheap talent to build our core.

Trading the pick I assume is a way to offload an undesirable contract just so we can overpay someone else in free Agency.

For once, lets take the long term view and not try for a shortcut that will provide minimal short term gains....

Initially I'm thinking trade it, esp if you can trade it to dump a terrible contract and/or get better somewhere else, and if you get the trifecta and decrease salary then hot damn, that would be my preference given our cap situation.

But the new regime had reasonable success with their draft picks, developing them and others during the season. If there are players they feel can impact the team at 12, I'm fine with using the pick too.

I just dont see who we can trade for, who would have a higher upside than Monk does, which I really think if we trade the pick for a Batum salary dump, or something like that, Monk would probably be involved. Let’s just show some patience and not mess this light rebuild up. The young core that we have, can be very good in the figure. I want no part in some old aging veteran, who can maybe help us squeeze into the playoffs. Let’s just let our contracts expire... by that time, our team should be ready for a big jump. Trust the process. ;)

I don't think all trades must be around Nic or Monk. Despite the narrative, the 65 (edit: bumped for Tony) or so million on the bench the last 12 games is where I'd start.
Here comes McRoberts, the throw to Walker, it's in the aaaaaiiiiirrrr, YESSSSS! Bobcats win it! My my my, Kemba Walker. Steve Martin - Toronto 12/18/2013

People seem to think Marvin has the most trade value of the bench brigade that was out those last few games

Seems very Miles Bridgey to me. Maybe a hair bigger dude with a little less athleticism; little better efficiency, but with less usage. Played well in the Tournament. Showing 6-7 to 6-8 on various sites which like Miles makes him short to play inside yet too stocky to defend the wing. A perfect Hornet but we got one.

i think it is enough for jrue

Why would the Pelicans still trade Jrue? When the draft Zion they will think he is the basketball messiah and be looking to win right away. Jrue is almost as beloved in New Orleans as Kemba inCharlotte also.

i truly think they can't be that dense. the vast majority of rookies are not producing wins. zion is going to need at least 2 seasons to be anywhere near capable of producing a winner.

ad is gone. by his words not rumor. they have to trade him and have to do it this summer. at that point, you have to cash in on jrue and any other asset you have.

right now, they are in a very unique position to do a complete overhaul with multiple top 5 picks, young assets and salary relief in 2 seasons.

Bol will be gone before #12, but maybe Jaxson Hayes depending on his workouts.
